NZ-Made, using a recipe passed down through generations

Mitchells Bone Broth Powder is made using NZ grass fed and finished beef bones that are slow-cooked with NZ grown onions, carrots, celery, parsley, apple cider vinegar, black peppercorns, bay leaf, and rosemary. Finally, Mitchells gently dries the broth to remove water and preserve the nutritional profile. That’s it!

Mitchells Bone Broth Protein Powder contains all the goodness of the Bone Broth Powder (without the herbs and veggies) combined with natural flavour and monk fruit to sweeten. It’s the bone broth extraction that makes up the natural amino acid profile. Just as nature designed; no added aminos to adjust ratios, and no added nasties!

Independent Testing

We test and perfect our products until we are 110% happy with them. Mitchells Bone Broth Powders are independently tested by Eurofins, ensuring we are confident in providing a product clean, pure, and true to its natural nutritional value.

Sustainability is a core value in everything we do

We are constantly assessing how we can make our business sustainable across manufacturing, packaging and shipping. Overtime, we have taken steps to tread more lightly on our planet and contribute to our local community. Here's a few ways how:

  • Removed plastic scoops from our tubs and introduced reusable Stainless Steel Scoops for our Protein Powder's.
  • Moved from plastic tubs to reusable tin and card cans.
  • Opted for recyclable and compostable courier bags.
  • Became a member of the Soft Plastics Recycling Scheme.
Giving Back

Community

Mitchells proudly supports OneWave. OneWave is a non-profit surf community raising awareness of mental health through a simple recipe… saltwater therapy, surfing and fluro. They believe that everyone should have the chance to ride waves and openly talk about mental health without being judged. Find out more here.

Ambassadors

Mitchells also proudly connects with, supports, and fuels a handful of NZ athletes and ambassadors in their training, recovery, and daily performance.
We also love getting on board with and providing product for kiwi-led health education campaigns such as the Gut Campaign and aligned practitioners and studio events.

Our Story

Rob Mitchell - Founder of Mitchells Nutrition

Words from founder Rob Mitchell

After a high-impact professional snowboarding career, my body needed serious help to recover. This led me to seek natural, effective ways to promote proper recovery and repair.

Throughout my career, I injured nearly every part of my body. Each time, I ended up at the doctor's office, where I was prescribed a bunch of drugs—anti-inflammatories, painkillers, and the like. While these medications were necessary for the initial pain, I realised that what you fuel your body and mind with during the rehabilitation phase is crucial for how well you bounce back. I wanted to explore this further.

Dissatisfied with what was available on the market, I turned back to bone broth, which I had used to rehabilitate injuries in the past with great results. The downside to bone broth is that it’s time-consuming to make—it takes at least two days to prepare from scratch and needs to be consumed quickly. I started thinking there must be an easier way to enjoy the benefits of bone broth in a more convenient form.

After extensive research and development, we perfected our bone broth protein powder, repackaging this traditional supplement for the modern world. I knew I wasn’t alone in needing nutritional rehabilitation support that was effective, delicious, and convenient. And so, Mitchells Nutrition was born.

Mitchells Nutrition History

The history of our Bone Broth recipe

Passed down through generations

One hundred and forty years ago, Scottish born James Mitchell, set off for New Zealand in search of gold. With them, they brought a beloved family recipe for good old-fashioned bone broth. Liquid gold, if you like, the perfect fuel for digging, and the ultimate example of waste not want not.

Fast forward to the 21st century, and their injured pro-snowboarding great, great-grandson finds the recipe and in a quest to heal his broken body, turns it into bone broth powder.

Many years and several impatient iterations later, Rob Mitchell is now chasing a ‘rush’ of his very own making. It seems what used to fuel gold diggers is now a staple for wellness friends everywhere, not just Rob.
