Bone Broth Powder
How is the Bone Broth Powder made?
We use 100% grass-fed and finished NZ beef bones that are antibiotic and hormone-free, and raised with respect. These are combined with locally grown vegetables in a traditional family recipe passed down through generations. After slow-cooking, we gently dry the bone broth to remove the water and preserve the nutritional profile, creating a shelf-stable powder that’s convenient for modern lives.
As always, we suggest making bone broth from scratch if you can.
Where do you source your beef bones from?
Right here in New Zealand. We take pride in sourcing the best quality bones from the healthiest and happiest cows we can find. Our Bone Broth products are proudly made from 100% grass fed and finished cattle from New Zealand. All bones are hormone and anti-biotic-free.
What does the Bone Broth taste/smell like?
Simply put, it's delicious! Bone broth extraction creates a natural amino acid profile, but our powders don't taste or smell "meaty." The powder has a mild flavor that you can enhance with salt, pepper, lemon, and/or ginger.
Note: If you've worked heavily with meat before as a butcher or in an abattoir, we've had feedback that it can trigger a more potent meat memory smell.
Is it gluten and dairy-free?
Yes, absolutely. It’s dairy-free, gluten-free, legume-free, low in sugar, and high in protein and collagen.
Does it contain collagen?
Yes, it contains over 70% collagen. It’s natural too, meaning it’s derived from the cooking process and not added from a cheaper source.
Is it safe for pregnancy/breastfeeding?
Yes, our range is all-natural, making it not only safe but highly recommended. It’s a great way to get the extra protein your body needs during pregnancy. However, it is advised to discuss any supplement intake with your GP or healthcare professional before consumption, just to be safe. The rosemary in the extract is less than 1%, which is fine for pregnant women.
Is it safe for babies and toddlers?
Yes, it is. Mixing some 10 - 15g of Bone Broth Powder into your baby’s next soft meal is a great way to add protein when you start them on solids.
Is it suitable for a low FODMAP, keto, or paleo diet?
Yes, it is. Our ingredients include extract of grass-fed beef bones, onions, carrots, celery, parsley, organic apple cider vinegar, black peppercorns, bay leaf, and rosemary. All the nutrients from these ingredients are suspended in the liquid after the cooking process. The bones and other materials are removed before a gentle drying process. The onion flesh is removed before drying, so it’s suitable for low FODMAP diets, with only a trace amount in the powder. The other ingredients are also present in trace amounts by the time the powder is formed.
We always suggest consulting with your healthcare professional first if you are unsure.
Is the Bone Broth Halal certified?
Yes. All our products are verified to comply with Islamic dietary laws and are therefore permissible for consumption or use by Muslims. Halal certification indicates that the product has been produced, processed, and handled according to Islamic principles, ensuring that it does not contain any forbidden ingredients or involve any prohibited practices in its manufacturing process.
Is it tested for heavy metals and nutritional content?
Our entire range is made from non-GMO ingredients and is independently tested for heavy metals. You can find the independent testing information on the product page under Heavy Metals Profile. Results show that they are in the very safe range for heavy metals. It's important to note that basically everything grown in soil contains metals.
Protein Powder
How is Bone Broth Protein Powder made?
We use a traditional cooking technique to extract the goodness from 100% grass-fed New Zealand beef bones. We gently dry the broth to remove the water and preserve its nutritional profile. Finally, we stir in the flavour (natural vanilla, natural caramel, sea salt, or cocoa), and add monk fruit for sweetness. Nothing else is added which makes it a fantastic clean, whole-food supplement.
Is bone broth a good source of protein?
Yes, bone broth powder is an excellent source of protein. It is rich in collagen and is a complete protein as it contains all nine essential amino acids. It's easily digestible, supports joint health, skin elasticity, and gut integrity, making it a clean and convenient way to boost your protein intake.
Bone broth vs whey protein?
Bone broth protein powder and whey protein powder each have their benefits, and which one is right for you depends on your specific health goals and dietary needs:
Bone Broth Protein Powder: Rich in collagen, it's great for joint, skin, and gut health. It also contains all nine essential amino acids, making it a complete protein source. It's typically easier to digest for those sensitive to dairy.
Whey Protein Powder: High in branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), which are beneficial for muscle repair and growth. Whey is rapidly absorbed, making it good for post-workout recovery. However, it may cause digestive issues for those with lactose intolerance.
Ultimately, bone broth protein powder is better suited for those looking for overall body support, while whey protein is typically better for muscle building.
What does it taste/smell like?
Bone broth extraction creates a natural amino acid profile, but it doesn’t taste or smell like meat. When formulating the Protein Powders, our priority was to ensure that the only taste you get is the intended flavour. If it weren’t for the benefits you’ll feel, you’d never know the difference, as there’s no broth taste, smell, or feel. Simply put, it's delicious!
If you've worked heavily with meat before as a butcher or in an abattoir, we've had feedback that it can trigger a more potent meat memory smell.
How well does Bone Broth Protein Powder mix?
Very well. Achieving a smooth and creamy texture was one of our main priorities when formulating the product. Feedback says it blends seamlessly, unlike many protein powders that feel "gritty." That's a big thumbs up from us! But you don't need to take our word for it, we have over 500+ 5-star reviews from our happy customers!

Blend it, bake it, shake it or sip it — our smooth formulation is as versatile as it is delicious.

What are Cordyceps Mushroom Extract?
Cordyceps are another type of medicinal mushroom recognised for supporting energy and endurance. Cordyceps may improve athletic performance, enhance stamina, and support respiratory health.
What does dual-extract mean?
Dual extract refers to a process that combines both water and alcohol extraction to capture a broader range of beneficial compounds from mushrooms. This method ensures that both water-soluble nutrients and alcohol-soluble compounds are included, maximising the health benefits of the mushroom extract.
What does 10:1 extract mean?
It’s super concentrated! A 10:1 extract means that 10 parts of raw mushrooms are used to produce 1 part of the extract. This indicates a concentrated form, where the beneficial compounds are more potent compared to the original raw material.
What are beta-d-glucans?
Arguably one of the most important ingredients in mushroom supplements! Beta-D-glucans are a group of polysaccharides found in the cell walls of mushrooms and other plants and fungi. In medicinal mushrooms, these compounds are known for their immune-boosting properties and ability to enhance overall health. They may help modulate the immune system, promote gut health, and support heart health by improving cholesterol levels. Because of their numerous benefits, beta-D-glucans are a key reason why medicinal mushrooms are valued in traditional and modern wellness practices.
Important to note: when a supplement states ‘polysaccharides’, instead of beta-d-glucans, this may in also include fillers and/or parts of the growth medium.
Why is there no growing medium in the extraction?
Because there shouldn’t be any fillers or additives in a pure extract. The focus is on capturing the beneficial compounds from the mushrooms themselves, ensuring you get the highest potency and quality without unnecessary materials that could dilute the health benefits. This results in a more concentrated and effective extract.
Beef Liver Capsules
Where do you source your Beef Liver from?
Right here in New Zealand. We take pride in sourcing the best quality bones from the healthiest and happiest cows we can find. Our bovine products are proudly made from 100% grass-fed and finished cattle from New Zealand. All bones are hormone and antibiotic-free.
What is the recommended daily dose?
The recommended dosage is 4 to 6 capsules per day, or as advised by a healthcare professional.
- 4 capsules: 1680mg/day
- 6 capsules: 2520mg/day
It's completely up to you whether you take them all at once or spread them throughout the day. Taking them all at once is optimal, but spreading them out is equally beneficial.
Optional: Capsules can be opened and added to smoothies or meals.
Always read the label and use it as directed. Supplementary to a balanced diet.
Note: Each daily serving of six capsules delivers the equivalent of one ounce of fresh, raw whole bovine liver
Why are the capsules freeze-dried and not desiccated?
Freeze drying and desiccation are both methods of processing and preserving beef liver.
Desiccation involves removing moisture from a substance, often through low-heat drying methods, which can damage or destroy the nutritional content. Therefore, we have chosen to carefully freeze-dry our beef liver to preserve and maximise its nutrient density. This process entails freezing the beef liver, then subjecting it to a vacuum environment to remove the moisture.
Do you use gelatine or vegetable casing for the capsules?
Gelatine capsules. Great for anyone on a carnivore diet.
Why not just eat raw beef liver?
Raw beef liver has a strong taste that isn't for everyone, but the benefits are undeniable. That's why we made a convenient freeze-dried and encapsulated 100% NZ grass-fed and finished beef liver.
Note: Many cultures have traditionally consumed organ meats raw or cooked with just salt and pepper. Like bone broth, we recommend consuming it whole this way if possible.
What does non-defatted beef liver mean?
Non-defatted means that our beef liver has not undergone another process to remove the fat content. This ensures that the nutritional profile is retained, as nature intended. This is important for preserving fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.
Is Beef Liver safe during pregnancy/breastfeeding?
Yes! Being a whole food, beef liver is a great 100% natural support during pregnancy and postpartum.
Vitamin A has been studied extensively, with various views on its safety during pregnancy. However, many practitioners suggest consuming fresh and encapsulated beef liver during pregnancy.
Most studies examining vitamin A use synthetic forms rather than the wholefood form retinol, as found in beef liver. It's also important to note that doses in studies often exceed the recommended upper limit.
The dose of vitamin A in our daily serving of beef liver capsules is 1013mcg, and in beef liver powder is 1206mcg, both of which are well below the upper limit of 3000mcg (as outlined by MedSafe).
As always, we recommend speaking with your healthcare professional to ensure that the vitamin and mineral levels in our organ supplements are suitable and safe for your unique health needs. They should also complement your dietary intake and any other prescription medications or supplements you may be taking during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Is Beef Liver safe for babies and children?
Yes! We suggest integrating liver into little ones’ diets from 6 months of age and onwards.
The recommended dosage for babies and children is 1/4 of the adult dose, a few times per week.
For powder: 1 teaspoon for adults equals 1/4 teaspoon for babies.
For capsules: 6 capsules for adults, so 1.5 capsules for babies aged 6 months and older.
As always, we recommend speaking with your healthcare professional to ensure that the vitamin and mineral levels in our organ supplements are suitable and safe for your baby’s unique needs, and complement their dietary intake.
Is the Beef Liver Halal certified?
Doesn't the liver store toxins?
The liver, of any animal, plays a crucial role in filtering toxins from the body. However, it's important to understand that the liver itself doesn’t “store” toxins. Instead, it stores essential nutrients used to process toxins into forms that can be eliminated from the body via the bowels, kidneys, and skin.
That said, any beef liver being consumed must be from healthy animals raised in clean environments to minimise their exposure to toxins, which may deplete the liver of the essential nutrients needed for increased detoxification demand. Our Beef Liver is sourced from 100% Grass-Fed & Finished NZ Beef.
Beef Liver & Spleen Capsules
How much iron is in a daily dose of our beef liver & spleen capsules?
4 capsules: 7.21mg heme iron which is 60.1% RDI
6 capsules: 10.81mg heme iron which is 90.1% RDI
Why do the capsules contain 60-90% RDI rather than 100% RDI of iron?
Less is more for iron absorption. Our bodies regulate iron intake carefully, blocking absorption when too much is present to prevent iron overload.
We formulated a specific ratio of beef liver to beef spleen to maximise co-factor nutrients while considering iron intake from whole foods. Supplements should complement a healthy diet, not replace it.
How many capsules should I take a day?
Take 4 - 6 capsules daily with water.
4 capsules: 1800mg/day (7.21mg heme iron, 60.1% RDI)
6 capsules: 2700mg/day (10.81mg heme iron, 90.1% RDI)
Note: It's completely up to you whether you take them all at once or spread them throughout the day. Taking them all at once is optimal, but spreading them out is equally beneficial.
Optional: Capsules can be opened and added to smoothies or meals.
Can I use Beef Liver & Spleen as my B12 supplement?
Yes! While our pure Beef Liver capsules or powder provide more vitamin B12, our Beef Liver and Spleen capsules still offer 123% of the RDI of Vitamin B12.
Is Beef Liver & Spleen safe during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding?
Yes. Being whole-food, beef liver & spleen are a great 100% natural support during pregnancy and postpartum.
Vitamin A is often scrutinised for safety during pregnancy. However, many practitioners recommend consuming fresh and encapsulated beef liver and spleen during pregnancy.
Most studies on vitamin A use synthetic forms rather than the whole-food form of retinol found in beef liver. It's also important to note that the doses in studies are often far above the recommended upper limit.
The dose of vitamin A in our daily serving of beef liver & spleen capsules is 442mcg, well below the upper limit of 3000mcg (as outlined by MedSafe).
As always, we suggest speaking with your healthcare professional to ensure the vitamin and mineral levels in our organ supplements are suitable and safe for your unique health needs and complement both your dietary intake and any other prescription medications or supplements you may be taking during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
What is Heme Iron?
Heme iron is a more bioavailable form of iron found in animal-based foods, particularly in red meat, poultry, and seafood. It is distinguished from non-heme iron, which is found in plant-based foods like beans, lentils, and leafy greens.
Is the Beef Liver & Spleen Halal?
Is Beef Liver & Spleen safe for babies & children?
Yes! We suggest integrating liver into little ones’ diets from 6 months of age and onwards. For babies, use 1/4 of the adult dose a few times a week. For adults, the dose is 4 capsules, so for babies 6 months and older, it's 1 capsule.

Beef Tallow
What is Beef Tallow?
Beef tallow is the fat from cattle that has been rendered (melted down and purified). It's used primarily in cooking and frying because it has a high smoke point and adds rich flavor to dishes. Tallow is also used in soap-making, skincare products, and as a lubricant in various industrial processes.
How is Beef Tallow made?
To make beef tallow, beef fat is cut into small pieces and then slowly heated to melt the fat. The liquid fat is strained to remove any solid bits and impurities, leaving behind pure tallow. After the liquid cools, it solidifies into a firm, waxy texture.
What are the benefits of cooking with Beef Tallow?
- High Smoke Point: Beef tallow has a smoke point of around 400°F (204°C), making it ideal for high-heat cooking like frying and roasting
- Rich Flavour: It adds a depth of flavour to meals, particularly in dishes like fried potatoes, roasted meats, or stir-fries
- Nutritional Profile: Tallow contains mostly saturated fats, but it also has a good amount of monounsaturated fats and a small percentage of polyunsaturated fats. It’s a source of fat-soluble vitamins like Vitamin A, D, E, and K
- Stable at Room Temperature: Unlike vegetable oils, tallow is stable and doesn’t go rancid quickly, which makes it ideal for long-term storage. . . and better for your body!
How do I use Beef Tallow in cooking?
- Frying: Beef tallow is perfect for deep frying because it can handle high temperatures without being damaged and becoming detrimental to our health.
- Roasting and Baking: Use tallow for roasting vegetables or making pies. It can replace butter or oil in many recipes for a richer taste.
- Sautéing: For savoury dishes, sauté meats or vegetables in tallow for added depth of flavour.
- Seasoning Cast Iron: Tallow can also be used to season and maintain cast-iron pans.
Can I use Beef Tallow in place of butter or oil?
Yes, beef tallow can be used as a substitute for butter, lard, or vegetable oils in most cooking applications, especially where you want a heartier or richer flavour and healthier option. It’s great for making flaky pie crusts, for greasing pans, and caring for kitchen knives.
What’s the difference between tallow and lard?
While both tallow and lard are animal fats, tallow comes from beef (or other ruminant animals), whereas lard comes from pigs. Both fats are rendered in similar ways, but they have different flavours and fat compositions:
- Tallow tends to have a firmer, more waxy texture.
- Lard is usually softer and can have a milder flavour.
Can Beef Tallow be used for skincare?
Yes! Beef tallow is used in natural skincare products due to its nourishing properties. It contains vitamins A, D, and K, which are beneficial for skin health. Tallow can help moisturise dry skin and is often used in homemade soaps, balms, and lotions.
- Moisturising: Tallow is a great emollient and can help keep the skin soft and hydrated.
- Healing Properties: The vitamins and fatty acids in tallow can promote healing and reduce inflammation.
Is Beef Tallow suitable for people on a keto or paleo diet?
Yes! Beef tallow is often used in both ketogenic and paleo diets because it is a good source of fat without carbohydrates or sugars. It is ideal for cooking, as both diets emphasise high-fat, low-carb eating patterns.
Collagen Peptides
What is the difference between Marine and Bovine Collagen?
Marine Collagen: Comes from fish (Type 1 Collagen). Benefits hair, skin, and nails.
Bovine Collagen: Comes from cows (Type 1 & 3 Collagen). Benefits hair, skin, nails, and joints.
