BONE BROTH POWDER
There are so many incredible benefits to using bone broth everyday for people of all ages. It supports joint health with collagen, promotes gut health by maintaining the integrity of the gut lining, and boosts immune function with amino acids and minerals.
At Mitchells, we use a traditional family recipe passed down through generations, slow-cooking the ingredients to perfection. We use high-quality, grass-fed New Zealand beef bones and locally grown vegetables - nothing else.
Bone Broth is something our ancestors got totally right back in the day - we've just made it easy to use for modern life.

FAQ
How is Bone Broth Powder made?
We start with 100% grass-fed and finished NZ beef bones, which are antibiotic and hormone-free, and raised with care. These bones are combined with locally grown vegetables using a traditional family recipe passed down through generations. After slow-cooking, the bone broth is gently dried to remove the water and preserve its nutritional profile, creating a shelf-stable powder that's convenient for modern life.
Note: While we always recommend making bone broth from scratch if you can, it’s time-consuming, messy, and has a short shelf life!
What are the ingredients in the Bone Broth Powder?
Extract of grass fed beef bones, onions, carrots, celery, parsley, organic apple cider vinegar, black pepper corns, bay leaf, rosemary extract
Where do you source your beef bones from?
Right here in New Zealand. We take pride in sourcing the best quality bones from the healthiest and happiest cows we can find. Our Bone Broth products are proudly made from 100% grass fed and finished cattle from New Zealand. All bones are hormone and anti-biotic-free.
What does the Bone Broth taste/smell like?
Simply put, it's delicious! Bone broth extraction creates a natural amino acid profile, but our powders don't taste or smell "meaty." The powder has a mild flavor that you can enhance with salt, pepper, lemon, and/or ginger.
If you've worked heavily with meat before as a butcher or in an abattoir, we've had feedback that it can trigger a more potent meat memory smell.
Is it gluten and dairy-free?
Yes, absolutely. It’s dairy-free, gluten-free, legume-free, low in sugar, and high in protein and collagen.
Does it contain collagen?
Yes, it contains over 70% collagen. It’s natural too, meaning it’s derived from the cooking process and not added from a cheaper source.
Is it safe for pregnancy/breastfeeding?
Yes, our range is all-natural, making it not only safe but highly recommended. It’s a great way to get the extra protein your body needs during pregnancy. However, it is advised to discuss any supplement intake with your GP or healthcare professional before consumption, just to be safe. The rosemary in the extract is less than 1%, which is fine for pregnant women.
Is it safe for babies and toddlers?
Yes, it is. Mixing some 10 - 15g of Bone Broth Powder into your baby’s next soft meal is a great way to add protein when you start them on solids.
Is it suitable for a low FODMAP, keto, or paleo diet?
Yes, it is. Our ingredients include extract of grass-fed beef bones, onions, carrots, celery, parsley, organic apple cider vinegar, black peppercorns, bay leaf, and rosemary. All the nutrients from these ingredients are suspended in the liquid after the cooking process. The bones and other materials are removed before a gentle drying process. The onion flesh is removed before drying, so it’s suitable for low FODMAP diets, with only a trace amount in the powder. The other ingredients are also present in trace amounts by the time the powder is formed.
We always suggest consulting with your healthcare professional first if you are unsure.
Is the Bone Broth Halal certified?
Yes. All our products are verified to comply with Islamic dietary laws and are therefore permissible for consumption or use by Muslims. Halal certification indicates that the product has been produced, processed, and handled according to Islamic principles, ensuring that it does not contain any forbidden ingredients or involve any prohibited practices in its manufacturing process.
What are Amino Acids?
Our Bone Broth is packed with amino acids. Why are amino acids so good? They are the building blocks of the body and sources of energy. Like fats and carbohydrates, but with a key difference: amino acids contain nitrogen, which helps form tissues, organs, muscles, skin, and hair. Fats and carbs don’t have nitrogen, so they can’t build your body in the same way.
Is it tested for heavy metals and nutritional content?
Our entire range is made from non-GMO ingredients and is independently tested for heavy metals. You can find the independent testing information under Heavy Metals Profile. Results show that they are in the very safe range for heavy metals. It's important to note that basically everything grown in soil contains metals.
