Please give us a rundown on who you are and what you do?
Snowboarder, wakeboarder, mountain bike, motocross, skateboarding are my sports when I’m not being a refrigeration engineer to pay for my bills and hobbies. Been to Japan 2 times and USA for snowboarding and the next powder trip planned is Heli boarding in Alaska.
We hear you have been nursing an injury, can you share more about this journey?
Yeah I broke my talus bone in my ankle. Landed wrong and my ankle dorsiflexed so much it snapped and my toes touched my shin. Had to have the bone screwed back together with 3 screws.
I did my ACL in my knee 2 years ago wakeboarding and made a full recovery I was snowboarding again after 3 months. My knee actually feels stronger now than before the injury.
What are your typical go to’s when supporting your physical and mental recovery?
Exercise and eating good are the most important things to me and knowing I’m helping my body recover with what I eat. Injury’s are hard mentally though so it’s normal to feel like shit just have to remember it could always be worse and stay positive
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received that has helped you become the epic person you are today?
Work hard play hard. Never give up on your goals. Stay humble and send it!
What advice would you give any readers who want to follow in your footsteps?
Call in sick to work on pow days, keep fit and healthy and do what you love as much as possible.
What’s your favourite way to have any of Mitchell’s Nutrition products?
3 scoops Collagen Powder in my morning coffee, Bone Broth with sliced ginger for smoko and I mix the Protein Powder with hemp seed milk. I try have that everyday plus food. I find the Bone Broth takes away the cravings of snacking during the day.
What’s your proudest moment so far?
Winning the national wakeboarding mixed men’s class against riders that were better than me was pretty sick everything just come together mint.
What about your hardest moment, and how you dealt with it?
Probably this ankle injury. I couldn’t walk for 12 weeks so just had to stay positive, get on the broth and heal up.
Finally, what’s your fav adventure spot in New Zealand?
Snowboarding, specially heli boarding up Mt Cook dropping steep and deep lines.
