FAQ
Why eat beef liver?
Beef liver is the ancient secret for supporting vitality, sustainable brain and body energy, and healthy skin, hair, and nails.
Known as nature’s multivitamin, and much more nutrient dense than muscle meats. Beef Liver is a rich, bioavailable source of vitamin B12, B2, B3, vitamin A, biotin, copper, and more.
Say goodbye to lab formulated, synthetic multi-vitamins. Beef Liver is a 100% whole-food, comprehensive blend of essential vitamins and minerals, the everyday supplement you need to maintain a healthy nutrient status.
An all-rounder, supporting energy, skin, hair and nails, as well as bone, hormonal, and immune health.
All the benefits of eating nose-to-tail, without any of the inconvenience.
Where does Mitchells Beef Liver come from?
Right here in New Zealand.
We take pride in sourcing the best quality bones from the healthiest and happiest cows we can find. Our Bone Broth products are proudly made from 100% grass fed and finished cattle from New Zealand. All bones are hormone and anti-biotic free.
Is Beef Liver safe during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding?
Yes! Beef liver, being a whole food, is a natural support during pregnancy and postpartum.
There's debate about vitamin A safety in pregnancy, but many practitioners recommend fresh or encapsulated beef liver during pregnancy.
Studies mostly use synthetic vitamin A, not the natural form found in beef liver. Our capsules provide 1013mcg, and powder 1206mcg, both below the upper limit of 3000mcg (as outlined by MedSafe).
Always consult your healthcare professional to ensure our supplements suit your needs and complement your diet, medications, or other supplements during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Why are the capsules freeze-dried and not desiccated?
Freeze drying and desiccation are both methods of processing and preserving beef liver.
Desiccation is the process of removing moisture from a substance often through the use of low-heat drying methods, which can damage or destroy the nutritional content. For this reason, we have carefully freeze-dried our beef liver to ensure preserve and maximise nutrient density. This involves freezing the beef liver, then subjecting it to a vacuum environment to remove the moisture.
Is Beef Liver safe for babies and children?
Yes! We recommend introducing liver to babies' diets from 6 months.
Give them 1/4 of the adult dose a few times a week. For powder, 1 tsp for adults equals 1/4 tsp for babies. For capsules, 6 capsules for adults, so 1.5 capsules for babies.
Consult your healthcare professional to ensure our supplements are suitable and safe for your baby's needs.
What is the recommended serving suggestion?
Each serving of six capsules delivers the equivalent of one ounce of fresh, raw whole bovine spleen, the recommended dosage is 3 to 6 capsules per day, or as advised by a healthcare professional. This supplement can be consumed all at once or divided into servings throughout the day. Always read the label and use as directed. Supplementary to a balanced diet. Mitchells Nutrition Ltd. Mt Maunganui.
Does the liver store toxins?
The liver helps filter toxins from the body, but it doesn't store them. Instead, it stores nutrients used to process toxins for elimination. It's important to choose beef liver from healthy animals raised in clean environments to ensure it provides essential nutrients for detoxification. Our Beef Liver comes from 100% Grass Fed & Finished NZ Beef.
What does non-defatted mean?
Non-defatted means our beef liver has not gone through another process to remove the fat content. This means the nutritional profile is retained, as nature intended. This is important for retaining fat soluble vitamins A, D, E & K.
Is the Beef Liver Halal?
Yes! Our products are Halal-certified, meaning they comply with Islamic dietary laws. This ensures they're suitable for Muslims, as they're produced, processed, and handled according to Islamic principles, without any forbidden ingredients or practices.
